We’re all in this together.
Except – not really.
Your COVID-19 “experience” is completely different than the way that many others are experiencing this.
This is devastating for some industries, merely a disruption for others, and has actually created financial opportunities for some.
Millions of employees have lost their jobs. Others are working harder than they’ve ever worked, under the most challenging circumstances. Meanwhile, some others are enjoying what basically amounts to paid vacation.
Many Americans are fearful of losing their job – others have more job security than ever. And millions more are somewhere in between.
Bottom line: We may be going through this together, in spirit – but we’re certainly not experiencing it in the same way.
And so, when it comes to your business & your customers, that means…
Don’t.
Make.
Assumptions.
Don’t assume that your customers aren’t willing to buy right now. Don’t assume that they don’t have any money to spend. Don’t assume that they don’t want and need your help. Don’t stop marketing & don’t stop selling.
If you make the blanket assumption that sales are going to slow-down as a result of this, you’re giving yourself and your team a ready-made excuse to fail… an excuse which may not be based in reality.
You likely need to adjust your messaging. You may need to offer friendly financing terms. You may need to create some “introductory” level products & services to help people take the first step without making a huge commitment.
Adjust. Pivot. Experiment. But don’t STOP.
